The Gordon – Geelong Technical Education Centre
Description: Demolition of existing building and asphalt. Construction of a new two storey education facility. Total floor area is approx 2,390 m2. The building comprises classrooms, workshops, amenities, conference centre, staff room, student areas and a lift.
The shape of the building is complex, with many angled and raking walls. The fabric of the external walls showcases the many products used in modern construction. Precast concrete, alucobond cladding, corrugated colourbond cladding, render, compressed fibre cement sheet, aluminium windows and glazing. There are also a myriad of ceiling types used including acoustic tiles, sheet plasterboard, Renhurst Ripplefoil, exposed ceilings and Atkar Audipanel. Internal finishes of painted walls, custom made joinery, vinyl, sealed concrete and carpeted floors complete the interior. Externally extensive coloured concrete paving and soft landscaping allows students and staff to appreciate the outside of this fantastic building in a conducive environment.
