Edge Bar & Cafe
Description: This Master Builders award winning project was designed in the New York Loft style. Our construction brief was to complete the entire tenancy fit out in a very tight 19 weeks timeframe. The venue can accommodate 693 patrons.
Some of the bar tops have incorporated glass reinforced concrete which were made in Adelaide and had to be transported over. The external decking and seating is ironbark and glass louvres have been used to control airflow to the outside area. Fold up doors have been used to the bars for external service and bifold windows have been incorporated to other areas to give the feel of inside/outside being one.
We created all of the bars, commercial kitchen, lounge seating, feature curtains and joinery. To the internal walls various finishes have been used including faux brick, and timber wall panelling. Feature doors have also been fixed to the ceiling in some areas. We also created timber floor areas which are coated in whittle wax and are designed to give a worn appearance. To achieve the same levels for flooring and to achieve falls in wet areas we had to pour a 50mm floor screed over the entire tenancy floor. The concrete floor screed was polished using a special grout and polish technique. The ceilings are all acoustic and have been designed to suppress noise travelling through the slab above into the apartments. In general there is insulation and three layers of plasterboard.
This project highlights our ability to manage projects to a tight timeframe, and our ability to provide design/construction solutions.
